Canadian Tire Manager, Merchandising Services and Data in Calgary, Alberta

What you’ll do

The Manager of Merchandising Services & Data will be a results-driven, customer-centric leader who is responsible for shaping and maintaining Merchandise systems, tools, and data needs to enable complex business decisions and processes across FGL Merchan dising & the broader banner and enterprise . They will ensure the departments systems and tool are in functioning order and are able to assist when troubleshooting is required , or critical failures occur. They will also enable access to data for partner analytic teams, to assist with enabling the business to make high-value data driven decisions . This person will also be accountable and responsible to b uild processes and procedures to ensure the quality, consistency and availability of Merch Owned Data, as well as the use and success of our Merch Systems and Processes . They will understand the needs of both the business and technology stakeholders, enabling a shared unde rstanding of what is required on both sides, and establishing a climate of cross-functional collaboration.

  • Problem Solving oriented leader and k ey stakeholder in moving Sport Chek towards a C ustomer First mindset and enabling the business to put the customer at the core of our decision making and executional tasks.

  • Responsible for defining data quality standards and rules to ensure user provided information is compliant with defined quality requirements within their assigned domain ( Merch Data – COST, MERCH OPS PLANNING, PRICE, PRODUCT, INVENTORY, VENDOR, FORECASTING)

  • Act as Product Owner and Subject Matter Expert for FGL ’s instance of PMM

  • Manage data asset practices and ensure data processes are in place (plan, monitor and enforce )

  • Ensure proper support procedures, methodologies, best practices, documentation, and tools are in place to support the various projects and existing production systems

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to scope data and tool requirements and build data driven solutions to solve complex business problems.

  • Work alongside IT and Business stakeholders, managers and AVPs to manage, prioritize, design, test and implement system change requests

  • Support capability project work from a data flow and systems perspective

  • Automation & Efficiency: Use advanced problem solving and technical skills to eliminate manual work, drive process efficiencies and improve data and decision quality

    What you’ve done

  • Post-secondary education in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Business or related discipline

  • Strong knowledge of merchandising processes, tools and technology

  • Experience and technical knowledge of PMM is considered an asset

  • Good knowledge and affinity for application, report and database design

  • Advanced SQL, Macros, and VBA skills

  • Advanced Automation and / or Microsoft Power Automation experience

  • Motivated, self-starter with the ability to function in an environment with a high level of ambiguity

  • Experience working on cross-functionally driven initiatives; the ability to build partnerships across teams

  • Solid leadership skills and presence; highly developed sense of accountability, passion and track record for delivering consumer-focused results

  • Knowledge of industry trends, advancements, methodologies, and best practices – particularly in Data Governance within the retail environment

  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives at a time, with a high attention to detail, organization, and time management. Ability to prioritize is a critical asset.

  • Strong communicator, both written and oral.
