This Opportunity

Our Remediation Program Management Team is seeking a Bi-Lingual Early Career GIS Analyst (French & English) to join one of our offices in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, London, Ottawa, St. Catharines, Montreal, or Dartmouth . The successful candidate will work on projects for major clients in the energy sector throughout Canada. WSP supports a hybrid work model, requiring staff to work three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities include assisting technical staff with spatial mapping, identifying patterns and trends, and developing mapping applications and tools that integrate data analysis, programming, and cartography. The role involves providing local technical support for capturing, modeling, and analyzing geographical and tabular data to illustrate and determine spatial relationships relevant to client projects. Additionally, the position requires generating accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that deliverables meet or exceed industry standards of quality.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Perform GIS mapping, database development and qualitative/quantitative analysis as a member of a national remediation program management team.

  • Compile, manipulate, and refine geographic data from a variety of sources including, field collection, satellite/aerial imagery, public domain data, and existing maps.

  • Produce detailed, high-quality cartographic products (digital and hardcopy) and accompanying reports in accordance with technical guidelines and client needs.

  • Perform regular quality control checks of spatial and non-spatial datasets to ensure data integrity.

  • Collaborate with team members on project tasks related to GIS, database design and management, and data visualization.

  • Customize GIS workflow and software programs for data collection, engineering, and environmental applications.

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or closely related discipline.

  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.

  • Proficiency using ESRI ArcGIS software.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in producing high-quality digital and hardcopy maps and project graphics.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.

  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AGOL, data visualization, and raster manipulation.
