AltaGas - Maintenance Superintendent, Export Terminals
The Maintenance Superintendent, Export Terminals, will provide leadership and management related to the execution and growth of the Export Maintenance Division. This role will support the development and improvement of the key Focus Areas – Asset Registry, Asset Care, Work Management, Inventory Management, and Asset Performance Management associated to Ferndale, RIPET, Griffith and REEF Terminals. Responsible for Leading the Terminals Maintenance teams with a focus on organizational effectiveness, Asset Management Program growth, risk management and growing team capabilities and culture. The Maintenance Superintendent, reporting to the General Manager, Export Terminals, will apply the AMP framework to the Terminals, to enable data driven, risk-based decisions to increase efficiencies, increase reliability and reduce OPEX.
The Maintenance Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing and managing all maintenance activities, ensuring the Terminals operate efficiently, safely, and effectively. They will lead a team of maintenance personnel and collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless Terminal Operations. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and organizational skills to maintain and optimize the terminals infrastructure and equipment.
You will:

Provide leadership to the Maintenance staff in all personnel issues including Hiring, promotion and release of employees, Performance monitoring, Union and CBA management and strategies.
Provide direction and mentorship through quarterly reviews and other development programs.
Ensure training, Progression plans and continuous improvements are managed within Maintenance Departments.
Provide recommendations for proactive succession planning. Maintain and justify appropriate staffing levels.
Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance strategy for the Terminals.
Supporting development of both annual and long-term maintenance plans, budgets, and capital replacement/upgrade projects to attain required availability and reliability. Work collaboratively with Engineering and Projects to properly assess Capital, Risk/Opportunity based projects.
Support Development of annual Maintenance budget, monitor, and control approved budget. Ensure accuracy of outlook, budget adherence and strong understanding of risks to budget, ensuring stewardship throughout the year.
Develop and support a strong safety culture: 100% reporting culture, development of safety awareness and demonstrate a safety-first mindset.
Ensure all Maintenance staff are consistent in their application of AltaGas policies, procedures, and programs. Support and integrate OMS into Maintenance. Drive teams to engage, utilize and align with Midstream resources (SME’s, Engineering and EHS)
Provide technical mentoring to employees on process, Asset Management, and project controls.
Participate in key contract discussions and manage performance associated to Maintenance Contracts.
Act as technical liaison with management and staff from various departments including Engineering, and Operations
Work with Operations to ensure effective job planning. Alignment with site FLT’s and Managers is a key requirement.
Monitoring, Measuring and driving continuous improvement of the Maintenance teams. Connecting and alignment of the Central Team to the Field, ensuring AMP standards and practices are being maintained, implemented and improved. Instill Maintenance Excellence.
Supporting new development projects; project planning, maintenance strategies, Team recruitment and training, Maintenance Program implementation, CMMS, inventory management and supporting commissioning and handover.
You have:
Journeyman Trade certificate or technical diploma
Incident Command Training and Experience required. ICS 100/200
10+ years in maintenance, Operations and overall experience in Oil and Gas. Demonstrated leadership in the oil and gas industry.
Strong, professional verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in business administration tasks – Excel, word, outlook, JDE etc.
Experience with Enterprise Asset Management Systems, Maximo preferred.
Knowledge of asset management best practices – ISO 55000, ISO 14224, GFMAM.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills to present strategy and data to individuals at multiple levels.
Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects.
25% travel expected to terminal sites.
Solid understanding of maintenance, operations, and asset performance risks.
Solid understanding of the financial and operational impact of maintenance decisions.
Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a team.
Ability to work strategically with other departments and subject matter experts.
