Safety Specialist

Summary

This role works under general supervision. Create new procedures and processes when necessary as well as follow established procedures. Develop, implement, and evaluate phases of programs to assure personnel and facility safety. Integrate programs into employee population through face-to-face interactions, observations, feedback loops, trainings, etc.

Key Responsibilities

• Work at various sites with internal personnel integrating programs. Measure and document compliance programs/efforts.

• Develop, implement, and utilize phases of programs and record keeping systems to track and evaluate personnel injury and illness experience. Participate in monitoring and controlling the company’s safety standards in accordance with OSHA and State regulations.

• Conduct accident investigations using RCA, follow standard OSHA reporting and timelines as well as create feedback loops with employee/s and managers. In addition, ensure all data is gathered and given to workman’s compensation provider, when necessary.

• Conduct trend analysis, audits, and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, and materials. Analyze data in compliance with current regulations and make appropriate recommendations to management and employees to prevent new or recurring accidents.

• Develop, coordinate and/or conduct phases of employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs. Evaluate and approve routine material and equipment requisition, new and modified processes, and non-routine work.

• Work with the businesses in developing SOP’s and the execution of training individuals on those work processes. Maintain training records and assignments within the learning management system.

• Responsible for site security and badging; coordinating when necessary and attending local safety committee meetings; ensuring tailgate meetings are being done and send out appropriate safety topics to managers, supervisors, and employees to discuss during tailgate meetings, CARE conversations, etc.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

3+ years related experience and/or training

Required Certifications

Possess or is willing to pursue Board of Certified Safety Professionals, Occupational Health & Safety Technologist (OHST), or Associate Safety Professional/Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP).
