Actalent Hardware Engineer in Cadillac, Michigan

Position Summary: We are looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating product specifications, managing product costs, and participating in the new product introduction (NPI) process for electro-mechanical products.

Key Responsibilities:

Generate product specifications based on published standards or specific customer requirements.

Establish product cost targets and ensure they are achievable in series production.

Participate in the GAINS NPI process for new electro-mechanical products.

Create validation plans, execute validation tests, and report results for product changes, such as firmware updates and hardware changes.

Sustainment: Identify components at risk of end of life, find appropriate alternates, and validate these alternates.

Engage in structured problem-solving activities for electro-mechanical systems, such as 8D disciplined problem solving.

Manage electro-mechanical configurations, maintain mechanical configuration, and liaise with firmware development/repository.

Participate in creating quality assurance and test provisions to support manufacturing.

Support operations by troubleshooting production quality concerns.

Develop and source in-process and end-of-line electrical test systems.

Lead cost reduction, performance, or yield improvement initiatives on existing systems.

Participate in the request for change process as required.

Collaborate with new and existing suppliers to develop new products.

Qualifications:

Must-Haves:

5+ years of experience in Hardware design.

5+ years of experience in Firmware design.

1+ years of experience in client interfacing.

Proficiency in Altium or similar electronic design software.

Experience in creating validation plans and writing technical reports.

Nice to Have:

Familiarity with NFPA standards.

Work Site

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Cadillac, Michigan and some days remote.

Work Environment

This role is based with a defense contractor located in Cadillac. There is a potential for a hybrid work model but the role requires onsite presence. You will be working with a local team as well as a team based in the UK.
