Overview
Looking for an RN to join MHealth Fairview Ridges Vascular Access Team. Fairview Ridges is a level III trauma designated community based hospital located in Burnsville, Minnesota. With 150 beds, this facility takes pride in its patient family centered care on its med/surg, pediatric, observation and ICU units. We provide care to patients with many different diagnoses including, but not limited to: post-surgical/cath lab care, sepsis, CHF, overdoses, withdrawals, CVA’s, acute myocardial infarction and pneumonia.
Our complex patients require continuous hemodynamic monitoring, intense medication management, ongoing critical thinking, and excellent communication with team members and families. This is a faced-paced and highly technical medical and surgical environment.
About this position:
This position is a 0.6 FTE working day shift. Weekday shifts (Monday-Thursday) are 7a-7:30p and weekend shifts (Friday-Sunday) are 7a-3:30p. This position is every third weekend.

Responsibilities Job Description
The Vascular Access RN will:
Assess patients and determines proper VAD according to established selection criteria.
Insert complex peripheral IV in adult patient populations with ultrasound visualization.
Competent in placing PICC lines: independently, ultrasound, modified Seldinger technique, Navigational devices, fluoroscopy
Assist as a backup to staff in the accessing/de-accessing of Implanted Ports.
Competent in assessment and treatment of VAD sites for all complications: infiltration, phlebitis, infection, extravasation, thrombosis, precipitates, catheter malfunctions, mal-positions catheters, occlusions
Consult with staff in troubleshooting VADs and coordinate interventions with the health care team.
Provide patient/family/staff education re VADs.
Participate in quality improvement activities for VADs.
Make product recommendations based on patient populations.
Maintain integration of services between Nursing, CV Radiology, Infection Control and Home Health for product standardization, quality control, outcome monitoring and costs.
Knowledge and adherence of sterile technique
Knowledge of use of navigational devices
Possess knowledge of INS Standards of Practice and INS Policy and Procedures.
Follows informed consent policy
Possesses knowledge of all Vascular Access related Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines.
Possesses knowledge of all Vascular Access Devices, related Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines.
Qualifications
Required
MN RN licensure in good standing
Two years recent, RN vascular access experience or 5 years nursing experience
Has, or obtains within 3 months of hire, independent PICC line insertion and ultrasound guided IV insertion skills
Competent in peripheral IV insertion in all patient populations
Certification from Infusion Nurses Society or Association of Vascular Access within 2 years of hire
In order to operate as a PICC nurse, you will need to obtain a PICC certification. The PICC certification program can take up to six months. You must have successfully made 10 placements to be certified and at least thirty a year to maintain the certification.
Preferred
BSN or higher RN degree
Previous PICC and Midline catheter insertion in adult patient populations
