Juniata Valley YMCA Lifeguard in Burnham, Pennsylvania

The Juniata Valley YMCA is currently accepting applications for part-time Lifeguards to be responsible for upholding safety rules, YMCA policies, accident prevention, and emergency response at our indoor pools. Staff are needed to fill all shifts.
Current shift we are recruiting for day light hours Monday-Friday
Primary Responsibilities • Remain physically and mentally alert, taking a proactive approach to searching for distressed swimmers and hazards. • Successfully communicate with youth and adults to enforce pool rules and schedules. • Remain calm, respond effectively, and give clear directions in an emergency situation. • Maintain the safety of pool environment by removing hazards that could lead to injury in or around the pool deck and halting any dangerous behavior displayed by patrons. • Responsible for helping clean the pool facility, including vacuuming the pool and other duties as assigned. • Remain physically capable of completing the prerequisite swim test as specified by the American Red Cross to ensure ability to respond in an emergency situation.
Qualifications • At a minimum, some high school level education is required. Ages 15+
•Must be able to pass the prereqs (we will train)
• Current lifeguard certification or ability to obtain a certification.
Salary/Benefits • Offer free lifeguard training pre reqs prep
• Lifeguard certification will be paid for if you sign up to work for the YMCA for 6 months

• $11 per hour
