Jacobs BC Environmental Permitting Lead – Vancouver - Hybrid in Burnaby, British Columbia

Based out of our newly renovated office in Burnaby, British Columbia, this role will be a full-time position. In this position, you’ll provide technical leadership and guidance regarding British Columbia (BC) environmental and permitting requirements to our multidisciplinary (engineering and environment practitioners) teams and clients during the design, construction and operations of infrastructure projects. As a specialist in BC environmental permitting, the successful candidate will be integrated into our multi-disciplinary project teams and will use their specialized in-depth knowledge to play a leadership role and develop staff through on-the-job mentorship. The successful candidate will provide strategic input to the growth of the business and development efforts. Establishing and maintaining relationships with members of the public, government and non-government communities, associations, tenure holders and Indigenous communities will be important in this role. •B.Sc. (required) or M.Sc. in a Natural Resources related field (biology, environmental planning, ecology, forestry, or geography).

•A minimum 15 years of experience (preferred 20+ years’ experience) in the natural resources sector in British Columbia, preferably in a consulting environment.

•Strong technical writing skills and familiarity with BC regulations and requirements, including but not limited to the BC Environmental Assessment Act, BC Energy Resource Activities Act, the Water Sustainability Act and other provincial environmental permitting processes; knowledge of municipal permitting requirements in BC is an asset.

•Demonstrated experience leading a collaborative team and contributing to the preparation of environmental assessment for a diverse range of projects.

•Experience engaging with regulatory agencies, stakeholders and Indigenous communities.

•Hold a Professional Designation in BC.

•Strong time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines.

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

•Positive attitude, self-motivated with strong initiative.

•A driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract for client meetings.

•Ideally, you’ll also have: 

•Experience providing strategic regulatory advice to clients and internal teams during all stages of the project life cycle.

•Experience working with a diverse range of industrial sectors such as oil and gas, mining, and energy.

•An interest or experience in Project Management is an asset.
