Job Description:
The Academic Systems Manager leads the administration of courses within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). In this pivotal role, the Academic Systems Manager will oversee both outward and inward-facing tasks to ensure seamless operations and proper enrollment of faculty and students. Additionally, this position will work collaboratively with the Center for Learning and Teaching and be integrated with the Information Systems department to provide academic technology support and contribute to diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Significant Duties and Responsibilities:
Academic Technology Support:
- Course creations within the Canvas LMS.
- Facilitate user account creation for faculty and students.
- Manage faculty and student enrollments in courses.
- Implement and maintain automated student enrollments in courses.
- Oversee user account management within the LMS.
- Integrate third-party tools using the LTI standard.
- Develop custom reporting solutions using API endpoints.
- Support Champlain College Onlines fully online asynchronous undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Handle all Canvas system administration-related requests including triage of Canvas support, teaching and Ed Tech-related tickets.
LMS Training and Faculty Professional Development Support:
- Provide expert support to faculty members for LMS course setup, gradebook. management, and troubleshooting, leveraging technology to enhance pedagogy.
- Support diversity and inclusion initiatives, experiential learning initiatives and provide support for workshops and related activities.
- Provide Canvas orientations and academic technology training.
- Assist faculty with course design and redesign to facilitate experiential learning opportunities.
- Conduct Gradebook and Syllabi Checks, and Accessibility Issues.
- Ensure gradebooks and syllabi comply with accessibility standards.
