The role holder will be supporting the correct execution of the internal control and risk management, sticking the whole process in the stablished timelines and quality controls in order to improve the current regulatory requirements for the business.

As our VP Risk and Compliance Assurance you will:

  • Lead assigned assurance reviews to ensure timely and quality execution of the reviews while adhering to internal policies and procedures.This will include engaging, testing and providing feedback to the team on review activities relating to planning and scoping, fieldwork/testing, review wrap-up/reporting, and issue management.Areas of coverage include (but not limited to) regulatory reporting for Treasury (Capital: FR Y-14a & Liquidity Reporting: 2052a / NSFR / LCR), Finance (SEC/ FINRA/FRB filing), and regulatory compliance submission

  • Developing actionable review strategies and steps the test team can take to assure business control activities meet current regulatory requirements

  • Maintaining current knowledge of regulatory reporting governance and processes with a solid understanding of the regulatory reporting filing requirement and / or rule interpretation applicable to the business / legal entity

  • Providing assurance and challenge of the effectiveness of the risk and control activities conducted by the first line of defense and determining the residual risk of identified coverage gaps

  • Assists Business (Report Owner) and Second Line Management (Risk Steward) in determining the effectiveness of their control environment and provides line of sight for compliance management into regulatory issues

  • Manages and participates in special reviews, risk self-assessment projects and any additional assignments/projects as required by management.

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $128,100.00 and $192,200.00

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Qualifications

You´ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance and/or business, with 7 - 10 years' related experience in the regulatory/financial reporting function, and/or equivalent auditing/testing experience (e.g. substantive / transaction testing)

  • Certified Public Accountant or equivalent is preferred. Additional certifications such as Certified Internal Audit (CIA) or other relation certification is a plus

  • Proficiency with personal computers and pertinent mainframe systems and software packages (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Etc.)

  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills with particular focus on excellent business writing (clear and concise) as well as presentation skills

  • Some U.S. domestic travel may be required in relation to individual assigned reviews and industry conferences
