Summary:
This position is responsible for setting the strategic direction, leading and managing all functions and activities of Quality & Safety, Clinical & Operational Effectiveness and System Verification Office activities across Catholic Health (CH), with assets greater than one billion dollars, ten thousand associates and two thousand key quality metrics. The SVP, Quality & Safety is responsible for the overall management of an experienced broad based team charged with monitoring, reporting, educating, and inspiring devotion to excelling in internal and external quality metrics for the entire enterprise with the goal of attaining and sustaining top decile performance. The SVP, Quality & Safety serves as the CH system liaison and senior executive for all Quality and Patient Safety collaborative initiatives with the acute care hospitals, CH Service Lines, Continuing Care Division and Homecare Ministries to promote appropriate integration and alignment in an effort to improve the quality and patient safety outcomes across continuum, thereby improving the patient's overall experience. Responsible for developing and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with all levels of Management, the CH Medical Staff and CH Governance. This position is accountable for quality related regulatory compliance for the entire enterprise. Also plays a critical role in System and Catholic Medical Partners initiatives on Population Health Management, quality improvements, clinical practice standardization, fostering a culture of safety, champion our high reliability & magnet journey, and other cross-functional initiatives. Continuously learning about evolving best practices in the field of quality, safety, and performance improvement science. Establish a strategic framework for achieving the institution's goals with relation to medical care quality, education quality, research quality, and patient safety. Provides leadership on all quality related issues in collaboration with the Vice Presidents of Medical Affairs, Vice Presidents of Patient Care Services, and Chairs of Catholic Health.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
Master's Degree required with clinical major preferred
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
RN licensure in New York State required
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in healthcare in a Quality and Safety Management Leadership position
Proven track record in performance improvement
Work experience within an academic medical center and/or progressive health system of significant size and complexity preferred
Experience establishing, pursuing and monitoring appropriate process and outcome measures for key initiatives using a systems perspective; evaluating the processes by which clinical care and patient services are delivered; identifying areas of opportunity, setting standards for outcomes, developing appropriate systems to monitor outcomes, and overseeing the implementation of process improvements
Experience working with informatics, metrics, and performance improvement and measurement
Demonstrated change management skills in a complex healthcare environment
Experience with tracking, reporting, and improving key quality and safety metrics
Experience with Lean Six Sigma Methodologies
CPHQ or CPH RN certification
