Position Summary
Responsible for the supervision and oversight of operational and administrative details of the stores customer and retail services. Assists the general manager and management team in daily operation of the retail operations and concession retail events. Processes daily paperwork.
Expected House of Work
This is a full time position whose schedule is based on the customers’ needs and needs of the business. The position primarily works a set schedule during the school year, includes 1 weekend day and can include weekends, evenings, and late night hours as needed. The position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week, and additional hours will be expected during peak periods of business and special events. This typically includes August start up, January start up, concessions events (football and basketball), commencement and any other special events or needs of the business. Scheduled shifts can vary in length. Weekends and evenings are required. This position is considered a non-exempt position, which means that you will be eligible for overtime time pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a given workweek.
Essential Functions
Daily Supervision of Staff
Supervises part-time casuals, union employees, and student employees:
Trains and provides daily supervision of all employees including union, student, and student leader staff including: coaching, counseling, and performance evaluation.
Must follow union policies and guidelines, familiarity with the union contract
Ensures breaks are conducted follow guidelines and laws
Conducts student leader meetings
Receives store products, stocks in a hands-on role as required
Manages customer service. Interacts daily with customers and responds to customer needs and comments
Maintains stores professional appearance and merchandising.
Continuous observation of customers and merchandise, monitors for shrinkage and is proactive in reduction of shrink
Provides exceptional customer service
Participates in and makes recommendations for training and supervising staff including: coaching, counseling, performance evaluation. Recommends disciplinary actions.
Works with GM and other managers in daily operation of the stores
Supports and helps execute any special events or marketing events at the store
Maintains daily store cleanliness and organization
Develops and maintains positive relationships with vendors
Must be flexible and able to work in any of the store locations, responsible for cross-training and branding of the stores
Administrative Responsibilities
Preparation of daily paperwork and financials including to but not limited to deposits, daily sales recordings, invoices, orders, and additional necessary paperwork
Assists with ordering of store merchandise
Ability to use computer systems related to the c-stores and retail locations including micros and catapult or other related systems
Responsible to ensure merchandise is inputted into appropriate inventory and software systems
Provides coverage for other units as necessary
Maintains and updates student leader daily checklist.
Maintains daily schedule of shift assignments.
May perform any of the following responsibilities:
Runs daily revenue reports.
Performs cash and credit reconciliation procedures.
Oversees cash register operations, monies received, daily bank deposits, sales receipts, ?
Tracks and maintains inventory, i.e., tracks pars, logs monthly inventory.
Opens and closes the operation.
Additional duties as required or requested.
Education and Training
High School Diploma or GED, some post-high school education/training/certification in business, management or culinary arts preferred.
Desired Qualifications
2 years’ experience in a retail or convenience store location preferred, experience managing others
Work Environment
The work environment can be loud and busy. There is exposure to kitchen hazards such as hot surfaces and liquids, sharp knives, and slippery falls.
The position operates in a retail environment but may also work in a kitchen environment where the employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, fire, and noise.
Long, irregular working hours.
Exposure to extreme temperatures in coolers and freezers may occur.
Physical and Mental Demands
The position is very active and the employee must be able to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
The employee must have the ability to use hands to finger, manipulate fingers; and reach with hands and arms, to stir, measure, pour, cut, chop, dice, and decorate, etc…
The position requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers and visually inspect, include close and distance vision.
The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 lbs.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
Ability to demonstrate safe driving practices.

Travel between UB campuses may be required. May need to attend conferences and/or special events
