The Salvation Army Resident Assistant Team Leader in Buffalo, New York

Overview

SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To assist the homeless population in a residential facility that serves, women with children, couples, and custodial male parents with children. To provide general oversight of the facility including custodial and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Shelter Director and Residential Manager, Lead Residence Assistants in completing daily tasks (full and part-time)

  • Provide professional support and direction for client-related issues when needed in a professional manner

  • In the Director’s, and residential manager’s absence, provide oversight of staff, client-related decisions, and other functions as shall be described by the Director.

  • Keep The Director informed of all Shelter related issues.

  • Monitor and assist in any of the job responsibilities of the Residence Assistants.

  • Maintain client safety and security including assisting with emergency evacuation and other special needs.

  • Monitor the facility and ensure that all common areas are free of hazards

  • Work closely with the staff to keep the facility in good condition.

  • Assist in training new staff employees.

  • Attend all staff meetings, workshops, and training as directed.

  • Participate in all other duties and activities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be highly motivated, and organized, have strong communication skills, and demonstrate an ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to work weekends and/or holidays and with a diverse population.
