About the Maintenance Manager Position

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for all activities related to the general maintenance and upkeep of PUSH Buffalo’s physical assets and equipment. They ensure the proper functioning of these assets while coordinating with other departments to optimize the organization’s overall use of resources. This includes all aspects of building operations and logistics for PUSH’s business offices, community rooms, shared public spaces and properties. Primary duties include the assurance of cleanliness, safety, and security of PUSH on-site activities. This includes ensuring all equipment and assets are functioning properly and that safety standards are met.

The Maintenance Manager works with the Director of Housing to align property strategy with organizational goals by addressing any environmental health and safety concerns and coordinating with security staff, cleaning staff, property management/ maintenance staff.

Duties and Responsibilities Include

• Maintain, perform and oversee day-to-day operations of facilities and properties, such as delegating, completing and/or following up on maintenance orders. • Monitor the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, conference rooms, residential properties, parking lots and outdoor recreation spaces. • Perform routine maintenance on facilities and making repairs, as needed. • Perform and/or oversee unit turnovers and ready units for rental. • Oversee daily workflow, scheduling, assignments and performance of supervisee(s) and equipment. • Delegate cleaning, maintenance, and appropriate tasks to team members. • Ensure that basic facilities, such as water and heating, are well-maintained conducting proactive and as-needed maintenance. • Assist with emergency response planning for PUSH facilities and properties (COVID-19, inclement weather, etc.) • Assist as needed with programming of conference rooms, gymnasium, and any PUSH-owned community spaces. • Ensure proper security measures for facilities and properties, including collaborating with security system vendors or a team of security professionals • Schedule routine inspections and emergency repairs with outside vendors • Provide operational Maintenance training support • Assist operations in executing initiatives • Maintain clean and safe work environment; perform job safely. • Maintain maintenance staff schedules and responsibilities. • Ensure that facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards. • Inspect properties and facilities proactively and as needed. • Dispatch building and equipment malfunctions/concerns to appropriate vendor and/or teams. • Assist with on-site events and office move coordination on an as needed basis.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

• Minimum high school diploma or GED (supplemented with technical school training) required or equivalent work experience. • Five (5) years’ related/transferable work experience • Three (3) years’ supervisory experience. • Certifications in any of the following are highly preferred: electrical or plumbing. • Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems required. • Familiarity understanding blueprints and schematics. • Ability to meet deadlines and make sound decisions in stressful situations. • Strong communication, people management and customer service skills required. • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. • Must be able to troubleshoot/fix various problems or issues. • Must be mechanically inclined/tech savvy. • Experience managing facilities, equipment, and events highly preferred. • Willing to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary. Some on-call required. • A valid NYS driver’s license and access to reliable private transportation is required. • Must have clean driving record & a valid Non-CDL Class C Driver’s License.

The salary range for this position, to be determined by combination of education, experience, and skill level, is:

• $57,500 – $65,000 annual

This position is full-time, supervisory, exempt. The position will report directly to the Director of Housing
