Payrate:$17.00-20.00 depending on experience

We have immediate openings for a Cook position at Buffalo Seminary School.

The Cook is responsible for assisting in the preparation and serving of meals within the school cafeteria, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are maintained at all times. This role supports the Cook Manager in daily kitchen operations to provide nutritious, well-prepared meals to students and staff.

Food Preparation

· Assist in the preparation of meals according to the menu and recipes.

· Help in the chopping, marinating, and assembling of food ingredients.

· Maintain portion control and ensure consistent food presentation.

Cooking Tasks

· Operate kitchen equipment.

· Monitor food temperatures during cooking to ensure proper cooking procedures are followed.

· Assist in the cooking of a variety of menu offerings.

Kitchen Maintenance

· Clean and sanitize cooking surfaces, tools, and equipment to maintain a hygienic cooking environment.

· Ensure all kitchen areas are cleaned according to health and safety regulations.

· Manage the storage of food supplies to prevent spoilage and ensure freshness.

Health and Safety Compliance

· Adhere to all health and safety guidelines related to food handling and kitchen safety.

· Report any kitchen accidents or violations of safety standards to the Food Service Manager immediately.

· Participate in regular health and safety trainings as required.

Team Collaboration

· Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operation of the cafeteria.

Provide feedback on kitchen processes and dish quality to the Food Service Manager and Cook Manager

Requirements

Education and/or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Two to four years Cooking experience in the food service field with one year preferably in a supervisory capacity

  • Knowledge of foodstuffs is essential with food production experience necessary

  • Must possess basic math skills, ability to calculate production and recipes as required for guest counts

  • Must be able to work at a moderate to fast pace

Physical Requirements

The on-the-job minimum physical requirements of the position based upon a typical workday.
