Job Description:

Develops, implements and maintains effective compliance, risk and privacy programs for Great Lakes Integrated Network (GLIN) to prevent non-compliant, unethical or improper conduct. The GLIN Compliance and Privacy Officer monitors and reports results of the compliance, privacy and ethics efforts of GLIN and provides guidance to the executive and senior management team on matters relating to reporting, compliance and privacy. The GLIN Compliance and Privacy Officer is authorized to implement all necessary actions to ensure achievement of the objectives of effective compliance and privacy programs. The GLIN Compliance and Privacy Officer works closely with other members and departments of GLIN, KH and Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC) to assure compliance with all state, federal and local laws and regulations affecting the healthcare industry. Accountable for directing internal audit, HIPAA compliance and corporate compliance functions. Assesses risk and provides advice and recommendations on policies, procedures, transactions, operations and conduct to reinforce system–wide integrity of protected health information, operational quality, and documentation. Based on internal need and risk evaluation, directs internal audits in key areas. Maintains the integration of the internal audit function, HIPAA compliance and corporate compliance function with legal and other operations as appropriate.

The GLIN Compliance and Privacy Officer reports directly to Kaleida Health's Chief Compliance and Privacy officer.

Minimum or Preferred Qualifications:

JD required. At least 5 years of experience in Healthcare law as a practicing attorney in a law firm or comparable experience in business or in-house corporate/healthcare setting. Licensed to practice law in NYS, in good standing. NYS Driver's License required upon hire. Certification in Healthcare Compliance and/or Healthcare Privacy preferred.
