DePaul Assistant Coordinator Supportive Housing in Buffalo, New York

Overview

The Assistant Coordinator of Supportive Housing will be responsible for assisting tenants with all necessary linkages and to help them maintain a stable community living environment of their choice. In addition the Assistant Coordinator assumes responsibility for the day to day operations of the program including the supervision of staff in the absence of the Coordinator.

  • Pay range for this position is $23.50-$24.10/hour based on education & experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the supervision and training of all Supportive Housing staff.

  • Assist with the interviewing of prospective staff when needed.

  • To assist tenants in securing a safe and affordable apartment of their choice.

  • Provide support to the tenant with establishing and maintaining utilities.

  • Assist with the purchasing of furniture and needed household items.

  • To initiate a direct contact with the tenant on at least a weekly basis for the purpose of reviewing and discussing their current living environment.

  • Work with the tenant and their service providers to provide regular ongoing support.

  • Assisting the tenant when necessary to settle housing related disputes with the landlord.

  • Provide teaching, monitoring and recovery oriented support as needed in the areas associated with living independently.

  • Work with the tenant to ensure that all entitlements are secured and maintained.

  • Work with the tenant and their support team to create an individualized housing support plan.

  • To provide transportation to the tenant when necessary.

  • Ensure that the tenant maintains the required clinical services.

  • Ensure that all new tenants apply for HUD/Section 8 housing.

  • Maintain adequate records and provides reports and statistics as requested by the supervisor.

  • Coordinates the moving in (and out) of tenants as necessary.

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations for self and others including the provision of two person visits when indicated.

  • Performs any other duties necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the program.

Qualifications

Preferably a 4-year degree in Human Services and at least one year related supervisory experience, or a combination of education and experience which meets QMHS status as defined by The Office of Mental Health (OMH).

*In addition to the above criteria, this position also requires a clean NYS driving record as outlined in DePaul’s personnel policy. The use of one’s personal vehicle is also a requirement.
