Senior Continuous Improvement Manager

Job Description

The Senior Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for the implementation of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Continuous Improvement Business System, Practical Process Improvement (PPI). In this role, you will work closely with business leadership and steering committees to establish and mature the PPI Business System (Strategy Deployment, tiered management systems, Gemba walks, and leader standard work) and other Lean/ Six Sigma tools to facilitate the transformation and optimization of systems and processes.

This position will be site based in Budapest, Hungary and will have a travel expectation of 25-50%.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support design and implementation of Transformation program and deliver identification and prioritization of activities impacting processes at world class levels.

  • Drive impactful results directly linked to leader's key performance indicators beyond simple problems and projects.

  • Drive digital transformational programs in Shared Services environment leveraging use of VSM and Kaizen abilities.

  • Ability to understand E2E design and drive value stream management approach to optimize process realization.

  • Lead/work with functional teams to enhance processes to improve the customer experience and spread an action-biased culture and critical metrics, in the areas of customer, finance, people and quality.

  • Improve the decision-making model and problem-solving capabilities within teams to increase autonomy and the pace of change.

  • Partner with Global Process Owners on enabling technologies and the Technology Roadmap, ensuring priorities are achieved.

  • Enable technology-led solution design incorporating baseline systems and data architecture required for successful Generative AI / ML deployment.

  • Digital tool knowledge and expertise driving productivity including but RPA’s, Process Mining, Machine Learning and other transformational tools.

  • Extensive experience and a ‘hands-on’ track record of implementing successful year-over-year results using metric-based methods and TPS-based business systems in a TRANSACTIONAL ENVIRONMENT including elements such as:

  • Lean Leadership (Daily Management, LSW, and Gemba with a purpose

  • Value Stream Mapping in a transactional environment

  • Efficient with standard work, value-stream mapping, cell design, process and product 3P, and error-proofing

  • PMO and Program Management Governance

  • Expertise in problem-solving and applying a formal program/process

Experience

  • Proven record for developing and training teams

  • Self-directed leader who can lead/influence across and up into the organization without direct reporting responsibility

  • Knowledge of standard methodologies in finance, commercial, talent/succession management and/or legal processes

  • Ability to influence and guide leaders to establish a network that can eventually self-sustain PPI without additional support from their leader

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, operations, or business, with evidence of operational, leadership, or professional experience

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification

  • Accounting/ Finance certification or an equivalent combination of related experience
