Job Description

Overview:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the general accounting and proper taxation of the affiliate’s activities with special focus on Statutory and Statistical Reports, Fixed assets, ICBs, vendor and customer invoices.

Main responsibilities:

  • General ledger accounting in compliance with both local Accounting regulation and standards & USGAAP reporting

  • Overall Statutory Reporting (Financial Statements, Statistical reports and other secondary reportings)

  • TAX compliance at affiliate level

  • Intercompany administration

  • Fixed asset management

  • Vendor Invoice registration, processing and archiving, Supervision of SAP SRM key user activities

  • Corporate document handling

  • Administration of travel expenses

Tasks:

  • Responsible for General ledger accounting at affiliate level ensuring compliance with local regulations, accounting law and AbbVie internal policies and standards.

  • Responsible for coordination of fiscal period close processes, yearly statutory financial and tax reporting (including coordination of 3rd party service providers)

  • Process quartery period-end adjustments as required. In co-operation with Abbvie Shared Service Center process journal entries as appropriate.

  • Ensure compliance with local TAX regulations including monitoring and implementation of changes in the law

  • Process and co-ordinate tax calculations and manage returns filing in co-ordination with internal / external tax advisors where applicable.

  • Address tax inquiries, manage tax audits at affiliate level

  • Ensure registration, coding and/or approving on a timely basis all incoming Accounts Payable documents ensuring correct coding of vendor, cost center, GL account, invoice amount etc.

  • Maintain fixed-asset policies and procedures ensuring compliance with local and US GAAP (including Lease Accounting)

  • Process fixed assets additions and retires

  • Perform fixed assets physical inventory process.

  • Prepare information reports to meet ad-hoc management requests as well as other requirements from internal/external stakeholders (e.g. NHF, National Bank, Statistics Bureau etc.)

  • Accounting support for payroll process

  • Address audit inquiries, actively participate / be key contributor of internal audit and drive and coordinate external audits (e.g. Finance IA, Statutory External audits, Tax audits etc.)

Qualifications

  • University or college degree in Economics / Business / Finance /Accounting

  • Chartered accountant qualification in Hungary

  • TAX advisory qualification is a strong advantage

  • Fluent English knowledge

  • Fluent Hungarian knowledge

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a similar position at a multinational company or at pharmaceutical industry

  • Self-starter attitude, perseverance, ability to work with virtual teams (SSC)

  • Strong computer literacy and SAP experience
