Job Description

Position Summary:

The role has a supporting function in the management of the Intercompany (ICO) team based in the Global Business Service site (GBS EMEA) in Budapest. The center provides financial controllership in EMEA for several Thermo Fisher Scientific groups.

The principal responsibility of the role is to actively work on areas where technical solutions and new ways of working will ensure a significant improvement in business performance and standard processes in the ICO teams of GBS EMEA. The successful candidate would be able to take on finance projects across business operations related to intercompany accounting, providing functional mentorship, and giving with their specialized knowledge. Recommending technical solutions, standard, feasible and efficient ways of working and settling software development requirements.

The successful candidate must be a driver of process improvements in this area and be able to figure out necessary steps to achieve the goals set. The person in the role will be a highly motivated individual with excellent communication, computer, and organizational skills. The candidate must have the ability to prioritize and follow through in a fast-paced, multitask environment..

Key Responsibilities:

• Understand the functionality, interfaces, and interdependencies of Thermo Fisher's financial processes and systems

• Identify and lead development of projects related to process improvements and/or

• Provide guidance to the team of Intercompany Accountants as needed both in projects and in business-as-usual operation

• Carry out GEMBA walks with the team members and leadership to identify process gaps, improvement areas and help leadership to design a roadmap to fill these gaps and achieve development goals

• Providing weekly presentation on potential and ongoing projects to the team managers

• Support the team manager in the central projects related to Intercompany processes: participate in calls, help train team members, support in change management related to projects

• Promoter of cross-functional collaboration within the R2R team

• Close business partnership with other GBS teams and customers

• Help the team managers monitor and control central and Group related projects

• Develop and assist in automating processes using all available technical and processing solutions

• Ensure compliance with Corporate Accounting policies, procedures, and controls (SOX).

• Complete special projects as requested

• Support team members with specific, job-related training needs

• Being the focal point between external Audit and the assigned team. This includes the resource allocation, status update to the team managers and assuring the team can meet deadlines

• Demonstrated capability in supporting the accountant staff in daily operation issues as a senior professional

• Act as a senior role model for the accountants

Skills Required:

• Ability to work to meet deadlines with handling multiple complex situations

• High level of proactivity to drive continuous improvement

• Strong knowledge of Intercompany processes

• Excellent communication in English to interact at various levels inside & outside the GBS

• Ability to guide and train the team to achieve their full potential

• Accuracy is required in covering all aspects of the role

• Proficient in MS Excel

• Working knowledge of ERPs (one is crucial E1 or SAP)

Education and Experience:

• University or College Degree in Finance field

• 3-5+ years of related-business experience in a similar role & prior experience in Shared Services or multinational company is preferred

• Experience of intercompany or other accounting environment

• Recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g ACCA, CPA, CIMA)/ International qualification (US GAAP) is an advantage
