Team/Role Overview

As part of Citi’s Global Human Resources organization, the HR Control & Compliance organization is responsible for regulatory and policy requirements, internal / external audit activity, and operational risk for the Global Human Resources function, as well as provide support for enterprise-wide or business-specific compliance and control initiatives which involve HR policy, programs, data and infrastructure. For context, Citi’s Human Resource organization provides support to all Businesses and Functions employing approximately 200,000 people in 96 countries, with more than 100 Citi owned and outsourced systems.

The successful candidate will work in close partnership with Corporate Compliance, Legal and the applicable Program Management Office (e.g., Records Management Office, Data Governance Office, and Data Privacy Operations), peers (e.g., HR Control & Compliance Program Managers and other Global HR Control functions) as well as internal clients (e.g., Global Process Owners, Program Owners, Application Owners, Human Capital Reporting & Analytics, and HR Advisors) and have responsibility for managing all activities related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of Citi’s Human Resources Data Privacy and Records Management Program consistent with applicable regulatory requirements and Citi’s policies and standards.

As the landscape on privacy continues to evolve, the candidate will participate in assessment, management and governance of the Human Resources Privacy and Cross Border Data Transfer programs.

What you’ll do

This position is responsible for assessing HR privacy risk and related legislation such as GDPR and other emerging privacy regulatory requirements. Considerations in this practice include; employee notification requirements, third party exposures, delivery platform (ex. cloud) considerations, as well as data storage and data access location review and assessing initiatives considered for a Cross Border Data Clearance (CBDC). This includes:

  • Assist to review, assess and develop requirements as new regulatory requirements develop globally in the privacy space for our workforce members.

  • Facilitate to review CBDC HR Assessment forms to determine what follow up actions are required in order to perform Cross Border Data Clearance

  • Analyse HR Privacy Impact Assessments, help the initiative owners to assess the privacy risk and applicable controls.

  • Support HR operations in tracking, escalating and advising related to Individual right requests.

  • Assist in the workflow process as related to the Data Processing Inventory maintenance and periodic review.

  • Initiative progress tracking through the Cross Border Review pipeline.

  • Cooperate in the creation and deployment of privacy training for the HR function.

  • Support the HR Records Management Program Lead in executing the periodic Records reviews and assessment.

What we’ll need from you

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience

  • Fluent English language skills

  • Proven thought leadership skills with the ability to translate ideas into relevant and value added solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to lead change

  • Ability to influence without authority and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization

  • Ability to develop and sustain relationships in an international context / across time zones

  • Attention to detail is a must

  • Excellent verbal, written and relationship skills to be used to interact with a global group

  • High degree of initiative and personal accountability, self-starter and highly motivated

  • Strong problem solving skills required

  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • IAPP Certification strongly preferred
