What we want
The Assistant Director, Rural Medicine Outreach, under general direction, assists the Director of Rural Medicine Outreach in rural site development and partnership development. Develops strategies and tactics to implement the Rural Medicine initiative; establishes direction and goals; recruits stakeholder teams. Develops and seeks funding for rural medicine programs; coordinates with local donors to ensure adequate funding is available. Provides information and reporting as needed to support the program.

Travel: This position requires significant travel to rural areas and will require evenings and weekend work.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
6 years of experience in management, business development or related areas
Preferred Qualifications:
8 years of experience in management and/or business development
Work with community coalitions, non-profit organizations, or outreach activities
Experience in or around rural areas, with a demonstrated understanding of the community and
business environment
Experience working with individuals and communities
Skilled Public Speaker
Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to enable clear and effective
vision
Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships and create coalitions, particularly with
volunteer leaders
Knowledge of rural communities
Responsibilities:
Rural Site Development and Outreach
Works with the Director of Rural Medicine Outreach to establish the direction, goals, and implementation strategies for rural medicine community outreach and development.
Develops strategies and tactics to implement the Rural Medicine initiative.
Expands the rural rotations and elective program for medical students targeting key regions.
Recruits of Stakeholder Teams to include County Officials, ISD Personnel, and Medical Providers.
Provides supervision and guidance to a team or departmental sub-unit(s).
Partnership and Funding
Collaborates with our Texas A&M Foundation staff, develops and seeks funding for rural medicine programs for long-term funding strategies.
Coordinates with local donors to ensure adequate funding in each rural location.
Develops and maintains strong partnerships with local communities.
Identify conferences and outreach opportunities and represents A&M Medicine as appropriate.
Build relationships with Texas A&M University System members to maximize program impact.
Administration
Provides information and reporting to management.
Represents rural medicine at various State and National associations.
Monitors compliance with all unit, department, University, and government standards, policies,
and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
