As a Serviceman with Carrier, you will uniquely impact our customers, becoming the face of the confidence we stand by while ensuring their comfort. Your knowledge of Commercial HVAC will be critical in working on a variety of installations, repairs, and maintenance projects. Essential Task Description: (daily tasks and duties)
Inspect air-conditioning units to ensure efficient operation
Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on heating and cooling units
Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions
Install, replace, or repair damaged equipment; calibrate thermostatic controls
Install new heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems; repair and replace damaged or worn heating, ventilation and air-conditioning parts and equipment; repair or replace low- and high-pressure liquid lines
Inspect and observe pressure of liquids and vapor with instrumentation to ensure efficient operation of unit and make necessary adjustment; inspect and service refrigeration equipment including refrigerators, ice machines, gas packs, and heat pumps
Maintain the chilled and hot water supply systems
Adjust and maintain internal electrical and electronic control systems; cleans coils, blowers, checks motors, and belt tensions
Assemble and install metal ductwork
Assist in planning and designing of new installations of heating and air-conditioning systems
Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as required
Recognize and identify potential risks and hazards associated with performing all work-related duties safely
Work to mitigate potential risks associated with essential duties
Collaborate with management personnel to maintain safe working environments
Participate in a comprehensive OSHA-approved safety course (preferably OSHA 10- or 30-hour course) and adhere to company and regulatory compliance programs
Obtain or carry current low voltage electrical card
Obtain or carry EPA refrigerant license
Wear appropriate company issued uniform
Qualifications
High School Dipolma or equivalent required
A valid driver’s license is required
2 years of experience in the HVAC industry required
May be required to pass an oral examination board per local requirements
Push/pull/lift up to 50lbs
Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of Heating, Venting, Air Conditioning (HVAC) maintenance and repair; hazard and safety practices common to the trade
HVAC controls and safety devices; appropriate Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) / chemical usages; tools of the trade; materials and refrigerant recovery equipment and procedures used in installing, repairing and maintaining HVAC systems
Computerized electrical circuits and systems as they relate to air-conditioning, heating, ventilating, and refrigerated cooling.
Sheet metal, electrical, plumbing and carpentry
Basic understanding of building automation controls
