Job Description
General Purpose:
Assist in facilitating shift operations to maintain receiving, production and shipping expectations as defined by the shift supervisor or management. Ensure compliance during production of high-quality finished products. Ensure safety protocol compliance and provide direction to personnel by facilitating a team approach.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in all areas of the facility to ensure plant efficiency and reduced downtime
Inform management of production and equipment irregularities
Perform general housekeeping duties and compliance with Master Sanitation Schedule tasks
Assist in onboarding and training of new employees
Promote team approach for plant operations. Work collaboratively with plant leadership to facilitate consistent best practices for production operations
Supports Supervisor in maintaining shift operations; includes but not limited to:
Assist operations to maintain receiving, production, loadout, and CIP schedules
Troubleshooting of equipment issues, mechanical issues and/or downtime
Facilitate operational requirements, such as seal inspections, pre/post operational inspections or other requirements as needed
Provide operational support in the absence of departmental staff, call-in, vacation, and emergencies
Provide support during the absence/unavailability of the shift supervisor. Includes but not limited to:
Creation, review and closing of process orders
Timely review and completion of production records
Review of production status and adjustments based on changes to the schedule and downtime
Communicate with the appropriate DFA personnel and plant management as situation dictates.
Demonstrate safety program leadership through direct involvement with safety meetings, safety toolbox topics, safety observations, and daily promoting safety awareness
Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
2 years of experience in production plant section
Certification and/or License
Forklift certifications or ability to obtain
May be required to obtain and maintain other certifications and/or licenses for continued employment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Able to complete basic arithmetic in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
Able to perform quality testing, including antibiotics, solids percentage, butterfat percentage, and solids non-fat percentage
Able to follow directions and meet deadlines
Able to respond courteously and efficiently to inquiries, complaints, and requests
Able to communicate with various levels of personnel to ensure customers’ needs and requirements are met
Able to multi-task and problem solve
Able to interpret and apply company policies
Able to take initiative in performing job and seek increased responsibilities
Able to perform task and duties without constant supervision
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
