TITLE: Youth Coordinator - Teens DEPARTMENT: Programs REPORTS TO: Director of Operations/Chief Executive Officer

PRIMARY FUNCTION: A Youth Coordinator for the Teen Program works with members in grades 7th - 12th (primarily middle school ages). The Teen Coordinator is responsible for maintaining order in the teen room and assisting teens in self-regulated Club activities, like arts and crafts, computer access, video games, etc. This position will assist with homework as needed and support activities in the areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character, and Citizenship.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Prepare Youth for Success

Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes:

  • Promote and stimulate program participation.
  • Provide guidance and role modeling to members.

Program Development and Implementation

  • Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities for drop-in members and visitors.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure Club and child safety, quality programs and good appearance of the branch at all times.

Supervision

  • Ensure a productive work environment by participating in weekly branch staff meetings.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • May participate in special programs and/or events.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.

External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to move around activity area to supervise members.
  • Must be able to life at least 10 lbs and have dexterity to complete arts and crafts projects.
