Work will be performed at sea for up to 60 days on board commercial shrimp trawlers throughout the Gulf of Mxico's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) depending on amount of catch and/or expansion of fishing grounds. Job requires worker to prepare trawler for fishing activities; put nets into water and retrieve them; sort and head shrimp catch; return undesirable and illegal catch to sea; place shrimp on baskets, rinse, dip in preservatives; assist rigger to ice down shrimp in boats hold, get nets back into water to resume trawling, and retrieve them again; offload catch; mop deck; assist captain and rigger as required. The Rate of pay is
$16.91
per hour (Overtime$25.37
per hour) or an average of$17.00
per box (100 lbs.) of headed shrimp, whichever is greater. 40 basic hours of work per week (Monday to Friday - 6 hours daily and Saturday/Sunday - 5 hours) and up to nine overtime hours (hours may vary). Workers will be paid by check every two weeks or according to the prevailing practice in the area of intended employment (Brownsville-Port Isabel, Texas area) whichever is more frequent. Final pay will be made by check, less than a week after the end of every fishing trip once payment of catch is received. The employer will make all deductions from the workers' checks as required and allowed by law. Also, as is customary in our industry, monetary advances will be given at the request of workers within two weeks of the beginning of the trip. The employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Advances, pay, and deductions will be reflected in Crew Settlement Sheet given with check.

The usual work period is from 11:00 pm (night) to 7:00 am (morning) except immediately following the opening of Texas waters on/around July 15^th^
and short periods where there may be an abundance of catch. Working conditions may include excessive heat and/or cold, rainy days and cold weather on deck, confined spaces, sleep deprivation, and fatigue. Workers are required to carry and repetitively lift an average of 75 pounds of headed shrimp to/from boats hold. Employer provides safety gear, tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the assigned duties as well as food and optional lodging on the vessel free of charge or deposit. Housing costs will not be deducted from the worker's pay. Employer will reimburse the worker for transportation to the job site once worker completes 50 percent of the work contract period. Employer will reimburse the worker in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker. The amount for transportation will be computed utilizing the most economical common carrier. Subsistence costs will be paid to workers that complete their contract or are dismissed early by the employer, except when the employer has appropriately reported a worker's voluntary abandonment of employment. Transportation and subsistence rates of

per day during travel to a maximum of$59.00
per day with receipts. Worker is guaranteed employment for at least two-thirds of fishing season for the period described above.
