Scope of Job
To support the direction and oversight of student involvement programs under the Associate Dean of Students for Student Involvement. Assist the Associate Dean in providing guidance and assistance in decision making skills regarding the Center for Student Involvement initiatives. Contribute to the strategic planning of department initiatives and goals, aligning with the overall mission of the institution.
Description of Duties
• Oversees the daily operation of assigned programs under the Center for Student Involvement that include supporting civic engagement, community service, family involvement, intercultural programs, leadership programs, fraternity and sorority life, and student organizations.
• Develops, implements, and assesses programs and initiatives that enhance student engagement and leadership development.
• Participates in the development of short and long-term plans for the office, including the establishment of annual goals and objectives.
• Provides guidance and support to various student involvement opportunities including organizations, programs and events.
• Creates and oversees student learning opportunities focused on leadership development through student employment, volunteer roles, and a range of programs and services.
• Directly responsible for managing assigned program budgets.
• Advises student groups in regarding activities, recruitment, event planning and risk management in compliance with university and national standards.
• Directs the creation, production, and dissemination of public relations and marketing materials to promote activities, programs, and services in coordination with University Marketing and Communications.
• Develops and implements procedures and guidelines for student programs and organizations; recommends and interprets university policy and procedure and issues directions for implementation while monitoring and maintaining compliance.
• Collaborates with campus departments, faculty, and external partners to enhance student involvement opportunities.
• Conducts assessments and gathers feedback to measure the impact of programs and services, using data to inform decision-making and program development.
• Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness, making recommendations for improvements and adjustments as needed.
• Prepares reports and record of activities to ensure progress is being made toward specific department goals and objectives.
• Acts on behalf of the Associate Dean, in his/her absence; and represents the department mission and programs at university wide activities and events.
• Oversees the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of assigned professional and support staff.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Direct supervision of assigned staff.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Preferred Education
Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, or in a related field from an accredited university from an accredited university.
Licenses/Certifications
None.
Required Experience
Three (3) years of experience working with Student Programs or in a counseling area in Higher Education or a closely related area.
Preferred Experience
Supervisory experience.
Equipment
Use of standard office equipment, personal computer, and audio/visual equipment.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which may require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Other
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
