Direct Hire | On-Site

Position Overview : As part of the engineering team, this individual will work directly with ownership and senior management, while being the primary point person on technical concerns with customers, internal manufacturing, and subcontracting resources. He or she is expected to keep pace with the latest technologies and materials available in the field of high reliability motors and drivers and contribute significantly to the overall strategic direction and engineering competency of the company. This position has high growth and bonus potential as part of an incentive program tied to successful conversion of new business opportunities.

Essential Job Functions :

  • In Depth Design and Manufacturing (Prototype and Production) of Permanent Magnet, Brushless AC/DC Electric Motors

  • Advanced SolidWorks utilization skills

  • Analytical and Simulation Modeling, Electromagnetic Design, and parameter optimization of electric motors for specific design objectives such as maximum torque, speed, efficiency, and cost.

  • Experience in E-motor prototyping, testing, design verification, and technical documentation.

  • Knowledge and Experience on AC and DC Motor Drivers

  • Thermal and structural analysis of electric motors and drives under healthy and faulty conditions.

  • Material Selection (Lamination Raw Material, Magnet Wire and Magnets)

  • Develop performance specifications based upon intended use of the motor

  • Familiarity with ISO Standards and Compliance (9001:2015, 13485, AS9100)

  • Professionally manage and track multiple projects simultaneously and present periodic status summaries to senior leadership.

  • Identify project risks and establish mitigation strategies as required

  • Develop detailed plans and project goals for yourself to ensure performance to schedule

  • Accountable for product design documentation, archives, and accuracy of bills of materials

  • Develop material cost estimates.

  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated files

  • Review and ensure that a consistent quality level is sustained by engineering team

  • Foster a highly collaborative and effective working environment within the team and with other company functions

  • Develop material cost estimates and partner to achieve cost goals

  • Achieve design for manufacturability (DFM), quality, and testing targets

  • Engage with customers in a manner that builds their trust and confidence with CMI

  • Be able to think out of the box to develop effective solutions to complex engineering problems

  • Conduct research on alternative materials and design concepts for DC brushless motors, controllers, and packaging

  • Stay current with leading edge electronic components and circuit design concepts that optimize motor efficiency

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Technical expertise in design of electro-mechanical assemblies for mid to high volume production and production tooling/automation

  • Prior career experience in the design and manufacture of electro-mechanical devices including brushless DC motors and motor controllers

  • Strong leadership skills with extensive experience leading small engineering teams

  • Ability to mentor and motivate the engineering team to achieve excellence

  • Excellent organization skills

  • Project management expertise including use of MS Project or equivalent

  • Strong communication skills

  • Experience with DFM techniques and review

  • Comfortable being the primary technical contact with customers

  • CAD (SOLIDWORKS), GD&T, Mechanical Simulation software

  • Utilization of Microsoft Office Suite products
