JOB SUMMARY:
The Service Technician will troubleshoot, test, diagnose, and repair electrical power generators and safely perform normal machine repair. Responsibilities include inspecting, repairing, maintaining, overhauling, and rebuilding engines and/or power generator components.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Must have one of the following:
Successfully completed the level 2 training program.
Three or more years of experience with electrical power generator service and repair is required, from 5kw up to 2mg, preferably with Caterpillar equipment.
Graduation from an accredited technical school (minimum two-year program), with emphasis on power generator equipment.
COMPETENCIES:
Have a thorough understanding of equipment, and preventative maintenance procedures, and be able to perform minor repairs.
Strong technical service skills, mechanical aptitude, experience with power generation equipment required, and strong DC electrical and machine electronic system knowledge is crucial.
Must follow technical material and apply processes and procedures as needed to complete repairs and manufacturers’ updates, as required.
Possess the ability to work in a low-supervised environment and take direction from multiple supervisors.
Be able to communicate effectively with customers, supervision, and dispatchers both verbally and written.
Possesses basic math skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The functions of the position require lifting, carrying, and pulling up to 50 pounds. Standing and sitting up, moving up and down stairs, and climbing into machines with be required. Position functions require normal dexterity and repetitive and frequent movements requiring hands, wrists, and fingers. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
