Overview
The Laboratory Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the research laboratory facilities on the 6th, 7th & 8th floors of Rogers Hall, primarily serving the CBE department. Activities include working directly with graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, visiting faculty, undergrads, and REUs to facilitate research; laboratory safety training and policy; department-wide FDNY C14 certification training and processing; maintaining equipment and instrument service records, supervising equipment operations, creating and disseminating standard operating procedures and policies; regularly interacting with Tandon Senior Lab Safety Officer and NYU Environmental Health and Safety/ Research Lab Safety and Facilities Management; maintaining the BioRAFT integrated safety and compliance platform. In addition, the position will contribute to the department’s research and training mission.
Responsibilities
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering field (ie chemical engineering, bio-molecular engineering, physics etc..)
Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in engineering field (ie chemical engineering, bio- molecular engineering etc..),
Required Experience:
3+ years experience working in a laboratory environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
High level of independent thinking, creativity and goal oriented productivity. Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills. Ability to identify and support implementation of best practices. Project management, teaching and/or mentoring experience. MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $85,000.00 to USD $100,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
