BROOKLYN EMERGING LEADERS ACADEMY High School Spanish Teacher in Brooklyn, New York
The Spanish Teacher at BELA will:- Create inspiring, challenging, and effective teaching learning experiences for all of our students- Collaborate with fellow teachers, students and school leadership to build the school from the ground up- Share in the leadership of the school by taking on essential roles in addition to teaching- Be committed to serving all students, including Students with Disabilities and English Language Learners, in the context of the regular education classroom using a variety of inclusionmodels- Become part of a strong and supportive professional learning community committed to restorative practices- Enjoy and thrive in the lively and diverse world of urban adolescent young women while striving to create a model of public education that serves them well.- Design, facilitate and participate in experiences and conversations that relate to race, gender, class, and sexual identity in ways that empower students and foster communitySpanish Teacher's Primary Responsibilities:- Teach five Spanish classes and facilitate one enrichment class;- Create and teach challenging and engaging lessons linked to Common Core State Standards and International Baccalaureate Standards;- Use a variety of assessment techniques weekly, monthly, and each trimester to measure growth toward achievement goals;- Provide individual and small group instruction until all students meet mastery;- Serve as a mentor teacher to a group of 8-10 young women and teach one section of Leadership Academy daily;- Work collaboratively with other staff to plan curriculum and build school culture across the school;- Attend school and community events.
Minimum Salary: 70,000.00 Maximum Salary: 70,000.00 Salary Unit: Yearly
