FlexStaff Director of Nursing - drug and alcohol rehab in Brooklyn, New York

FlexStaff is seeking a Director of Nursing for our client, a leading provider of drug and alcohol rehabilitation. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the leadership, development, and maintenance of the Nursing Department within the organization. The scope of the position includes supervision of the Nursing Units and Personnel, Infection Control Program, Employee Health, and Pharmacy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

*Responsible for the safe and effective delivery of nursing care within the facility. On call 24 hours a day for all emergencies.

*Responsible for nursing service compliance with federal, state, and local governments as well as, standardizing agencies governing medical services, including but not limited to, JCAHO, DEA OSHA, OASAS.

*Develops and implements long-range plan for nursing services.

*Oversee and train staff on Patient Medical Assessments.

*Train and manage the emergency response of nursing/medical staff.

*Consult with Senior Management & Medical Director on routine basis in support of organizational mission and vision.

*Develops and implements written nursing policy and procedure to insure quality and safety in the delivery of medical services.

*Identifies and investigates facility problems and collaborates with interdisciplinary team in their resolution.

*Oversee policies and execution of medications management for patient discharges.

*Develops, implements, and evaluates quality assurance initiatives based on findings of chart reviews, observation of care delivery systems.

*Oversee and train staff on MMTP verifications, vitals, medication distribution, and EMR entries.

*Oversee management of patients' dietary needs.

*Manage discharge planning on the nursing side.

*Assess quality of individual staff member's work based on chart review.

*Provides consistent and concise lines of authority and responsibility among staff members.

*Oversee medication room maintenance and supplies.

*Develops, implements, and evaluates adequate staffing to address patient needs.

*Develops and implements educational programs to enhance nursing staff skills.

*Monitor quality of laboratory, pharmacy, and emergency services.

*Submit a yearly report to the Executive Committee and Administration giving the accomplishments for the year and the goals for the following year for the nursing service.

*Interview all nursing candidates for hire.

*Provides orientation for new nursing service employees.

*Arrange for adequate staffing on unit/ shift.

QUALIFICATIONS

*Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Masters' degree preferred

*Current Registered Nurse Licensure with the NYSED

*Current basic life support for health provider (BLS) and CPR/First Aid and AED

*3+ years of Management Experience

*Experience in alcoholism and substance abuse preferred

*Ability to handle stressful situations and resistance from patients effectively

*Ability to communicate effectively, work independently, and with a team

*COVID-19 vaccination required

The salary range for this position is $160,000-$185,000/year
