The Brooklyn Center Community School (BCCS) District is seeking a Licensed School Couselor to join our team for the remainder of 2024-2025 school year. This position is with Insight School of Minnesota. Job DesciptionUtilizing leadership, advocacy and collaboration the School Counselor promotes student success by providing preventive services and responding to identified needs through implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program that helps guide all learners in their academic success, social and emotional development, and career and college planning and readiness. Provides counseling relating to interpersonal, personal and family occurrences and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Principal.Essential Performance Responsibilities
Thorough knowledge of school guidance counseling principles, practices and procedures
General knowledge of community agencies available to serve and assist students
Thorough knowledge of casework methods and procedures
General knowledge of elementary, secondary or special education principles, practices and procedures
Thorough knowledge of school and district rules, regulations and procedures
Good judgment and decision making
Qualifications ProfileBachelor's degree with coursework in school counseling, sociology, psychology, or related field and considerable experience working with adolescents, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must hold a valid Minnesota K-12 School Counselor License.Education
Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
Masters Degree preferred.
