Dana-Farber Cancer Institute General Accounting Manager in Brookline, Massachusetts
Under the general direction and guidance of the Controller, this position is responsible for the supervision of general accounting staff and management of general accounting operations for cash processing, maintenance and other general accounting activities. This includes maintenance of all bank accounts, employee withholdings and deductions processing, prepaid assets, non-patient receivables billing and collection, inventory, accrued income and expenses, general ledger closing procedures, account analysis and reconciliation, audit schedules and reports, JD Edwards system integrity review and resolution. This position is responsible for the preparation and reporting of financial statements and schedules for management, and in various special projects and systems and procedure development and controls.
This position also assists the Controller in the planning, development and implementation of new or modified accounting systems; in the planning, coordination and preparation for audits; in keeping abreast of all regulations and standards for accounting, and internal policies for compliance related to assigned responsibilities.

General Ledger
Approve all Cash Book entries for the Main operating cash account and Board Designated Endowment cash accounts.
Approve all journal entries for general accounting and patient accounting.
G/L monthly, quarterly and fiscal year close.
Monitor G/L accounts.
Reconciliations of G/L accounts.
Non patient accounts receivables: monthly billing, collection and reconciliation.
WCP Boutique: reconciliation of G/L to inventory valuation report.
Patient Accounting receivable: approve interface entries, cash book entries, reconcile A/R to G/L.
Monthly payment and filing of State sales taxes.
Interface monitoring: Payroll, patient accounting and pension interfaces are run on schedule, balanced and posted correctly.
Daily and Weekly JD Edwards Integrity reports: review unposted reports, post edit reports, resolve and correct any issues working with I.S. and Research accounting.
Set up G/L accounts and perform source code maintenance.
Tuition Assistance Loans
Prepare amortization schedules and notes.
Provide documentation to Payroll and reconcile quarterly.
Debt
Prepare all principal and interest payments for various HEFA series.
Perform monthly accruals and various reclasses, including reconciliations of long term debt.
Treasury
Provide backup to Treasury area for downloads of prior day banking transactions, forecasting of cash availability, transfers between funds.
Cashier's Office
Supervises Cashier and assures coverage at all times.
Payroll
Supervises staff member responsible for standard benefits deductions: health insurance premiums, parking, union dues, credit union, T-pass.
Oversees pension contributions, payroll taxes.
B.S. degreee in Accounting, Finance or Business administration preferred.
Two to four years in general accounting supervisory position.
Experience in an automated, interactive general ledger accounting office.
Microsoft Office and other software application computer skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Institute staff, as well as outside vendors and associates.
Ability to disseminate information punctually and to manage time in the successful completion of all assignments.
