JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Overview: The Tool Prep Operator plays a vital role in preparing tools for coating in a high-precision manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include inspecting, cleaning, racking, wet blasting, and ensuring tools meet high-quality standards for further processing. This position requires attention to detail, proficiency with manual and automated processes, and a commitment to maintaining equipment and workspace organization. Key Responsibilities: Inspection and Preparation: Inspect incoming tools for defects and verify specifications, quantities, and special instructions. Identify unacceptable conditions and prepare surfaces for subsequent operations. Use chemical, mechanical, and abrasive cleaning methods to ensure tool cleanliness. Surface prep Treatment: Load tools into media blasting equipment, load recipe for desire tool and coating operation Mask areas not to be treated and direct nozzles for precise surface preparation. Remove tooling marks, coatings, and undesirable finishes using media blasting units and glove-fitted cabinets. Prep tools for cleaning operation (tag and label) Check tools for oil hole clogs Operational Duties: Shovel or pour abrasives into machine hoppers and regulate mixtures as needed. Perform daily process control checks on all equipment. Document completed tasks in SAP and ensure the next operation is ready for processing. Quality Control: Inspect finished products for quality and compliance with specifications. Perform final packaging and route products to subsequent operations. Workplace Maintenance: Maintain an organized and clean workstation and equipment. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Additional Responsibilities: Collaborate with team members and interact in a professional manner. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Skills/Experience: 1 to 5 years of experience in media blasting or coating preparation preferred. Familiarity with industrial cutting tools (e.g., drills, end mills) is a plus. Ability to interpret work instructions, production orders, blueprints and technical documents. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and work ethic. Proficiency in operating wet and dry sand/media blasting units. Physical Requirements: Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, or crouch. Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision.
