Abbott House Socio-Therapist - EFFC in Bronx, New York

Job Description

Abbott House is seeking an energetic Socio- Therapist to join the Foster Care team. The Socio-Therapist’s main responsibility is to facilitate the ABC plan with the Foster Child and Foster Parent. The Socio-Therapist is a member of the EFFC team and participates in all planning meetings for the children on their caseload- both treatment planning and case planning meetings. In addition, the Socio-Therapist is required to assist foster parents by resolving issues the children may be experiencing in the foster home, school, or community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit with the child weekly two of which times must be in the foster home

  • Responsible for providing services to children and foster parents on an individual, group, and emergency basis

  • Responsible for providing on-going individual crisis support in both the foster home and in school

  • Design, implement, and monitor behavior modification plans (ABC Model)

  • Participate as a team member in all planning meetings for the children on her/his caseload

  • Responsible for the timely completion of progress notes in CONNECTIONS

  • Responsible for working with foster parents in a supportive, professional manner

  • Any other related duties as required

  • Assist with transporting child/youth as needed

    About You

    You are the ideal candidate if you are passionate about the social services field and empowering underserved communities. Being compassionate, organized, self-motivated, driven, flexible and responsive are critical attributes to be successful in this role.

  • You have at least a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or in a related field

  • You have at least 2 years of child welfare experience

  • You have knowledge of mental health conditions (preferred)

  • You have good communication and time management skills, effective computerand writing skills, along with a flexible working schedule

  • You have a valid Driver’s License
