Brockton Hospital Administrative Coordinator-Ambulatory in Brockton, Massachusetts
Under the direction of the Practice Manager, supervises, this position orients, educates, counsels and supports the clinical staff, in collaboration with the Practice Manager, Directory of Nursing and Staff Education & Development. Represents administration in the overall management of the ambulatory office, in the absence of nursing administration and practice managers.
This is a hands on management position that requires engagement in day to day direct patient care.
Acts as administrative and clinical resource to Clinical staff.
Supports and interprets organizational-wide and nursing –specific policies, procedures and standards.
Collaborates with the practice managers/staff ed in developing staff to enhance their professional and educational growth and to assist in the follow-up staff – specific issues or concerns.
Problem-solves and takes action independently in the absence of other members of the management team.
Provides input to the manager for performance reviews of clinical staff.
Initiates the investigation of patient, family, physician or staff complaints and directs the complaint to the appropriate department director or manager for follow-up.
Participates in Lean activities and problem sheet development.
Initiates the investigation of medication errors and incidents, utilizing lean methodology and directs the staff to the appropriate department director or manager.
Immediately reports major incidents to the practice manager.
Assists the clinical staff in problem-solving, and priority-setting, as necessary.
Adjusts staffing levels based on clinical judgment, as appropriate in conjunction with the practice manager.
Assures a safe environment for patients, families, visitors and staff.
Provides department specific education in support of strategic initiatives and/or based on identified need.
Schedules appropriate clinical experience during precepting according to the individuals and/or unit’s needs.
Provides clinical supervision and evaluates each clinical staff orientee’s to ensure safe medication administration and re-supervises as necessary.
Maintains records of orientation and performance.
Serves as a resource and role model for clinical staff. Promotes new concepts and trends in nursing.
Relates effectively with other members of management teams.

Provides supervision of clinical staff on assigned shift.
Provides direct oversight for staff including RN’s, LPN’s and MA staff.
Coordinator is responsible for supervising, precepting, scheduling, counseling, education and evaluation of all assigned clinical staff.
The nurse will provide clinical assistance to patients and staff as indicated. The nurse may need to assume direct responsibility for patient care until such time they can be transferred.
The nurse will assign collateral duties on a regular basis including, but not limited to: controls on all POC items, refrigerator temp logs completed 2x daily, daily defibrillator checks, and other equipment checks.
Completes monthly inventory checks for pars as well as removal of expired items. Manages ordering and inventory for of Clinical Supplies/Vaccines/State Vaccines

Required Knowledge and Skill

Must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies, and vendors.
Education/Experience/Licensure:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. B.S. in nursing required.
Experience (Type & Length): Five years of clinical experience. Demonstrated ability in leadership skills, clinical skills, communication skills and professional creativity. Experience in teaching and/or supervision required.
Certification/Licensure Must be licensed to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Current BLS is required.
