SUNY Brockport Coordinator of Cosmetology and Barbering in Brockport, New York

The SUNY Rochester EOC (REOC) has been an established adult educational facility in the city of Rochester NY for over 50 years. Job Summary: The REOC is currently accepting applications for a Coordinator of Cosmetology and Barbering. The person in this role will conduct classes to prepare students to take the written and practical skills exams leading to their NYS Cosmetology License. The Coordinator of Cosmetology and Barbering will be responsible for teaching students in a cosmetology program the foundational principles and technical techniques of various cosmetology practices such as hair cutting styling, skin care, nails and infection controls. The Coordinator of Cosmetology and Barbering will develop and follow the class schedule creating opportunities for students to earn their required 1,000 hours to sit for the exam. The work year for this position is 195 days assigned over 12 months, July 1 - June 30.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • At least three years of experience working as a professional Cosmetologist.

  • Current New York State Cosmetology License.

  • Demonstrated ability to teach the required subject matter.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of technology including: internet navigation, email access, word processing, etc.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

instructional experience with a diverse population of students.

  • At least three years of experience teaching cosmetology.

  • Experience working with natural hair.

  • NYS Education Department teacher certification in cosmetology.

  • The ability to provide remote instruction.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm

    Salary and Benefits: The Minimum Salary for this position is $55,899.
