Summary

The NetSuite global business unit of Oracle is looking for an exceptional, self-directed Technical Writer to write help topics, release notes, and user assistance text for a complex ERP software application. The ideal candidate has excellent writing and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced development environment. What you will do

  • Collaborate with PM, development, QA, and other technical writers to successfully deliver assigned documentation projects.

  • Review product changes to determine scope of edits for assigned areas of documentation.

  • Write doc plans and help topics based on use cases, user stories, feature requirement documents, specifications, information from developers and product managers, and use of the product.

  • Revise documentation to incorporate product updates and product enhancements requested by customers and internal users.

  • Proofread and edit documentation to ensure consistency of language and style, as well as correct application of templates.

  • Produce screenshots, flowcharts, and other graphics.

  • Write scripts for videos.

  • Write user assistance text and release notes.

  • Participate in writing and scrum team meetings.

  • Work on special projects.

  • Partner with other teams such as Support, Training, and Professional Services to understand and respond to customer documentation needs.

What we’re looking for

  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • At least 2 years of related work experience, or equivalent work experience with transferrable skills.

  • Excellent strategic thinking, time management, and prioritization skills: ability to create high-quality documentation while making trade-off decisions; experience in meeting tight deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across product development lifecycles.

  • Self-starter: motivated and able to take the initiative.

  • Good planning, time management, and prioritization skills, and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Experience or an interest in learning Oxygen XML Author, word processing, desktop publishing, graphics software, and use of a content management system.

  • Experience working with remote teams preferred.

  • Familiarity with Agile development desirable.

  • Experience with mentoring or leading other writers desirable.
