Red Hat Senior Software Engineer - Platform Foundations (Brno Office, Czech Republic) in Brno, Czech Republic

The Red Hat OpenShift Hybrid Cloud Management Security team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer focused on Cloud Security to join our team. OpenShift is Enterprise Kubernetes and HCM delivers OpenShift Dedicated (OSD), Red Hat Openshift on AWS (ROSA), and Azure Red Hat Openshift (ARO) in partnership with these hyperscalers to provide Openshift as a managed service for large enterprise customers.

As a Cloud Security Engineer within the Platform Foundations team, you’ll participate in the development and operations of our managed services environments with a deep focus on aligning the product, processes, and policies that make up our managed services with international security and compliance frameworks including ISO-27001, SOC-2, PCI-DSS, and FedRAMP. In this role, you will partner with our managed service SRE teams, our internal and external compliance and security stakeholders, and product engineers around the world to deliver a complex, secure container orchestration platform for discerning enterprise IT customers. You'll develop Kubernetes Operators and other software to autonomously manage the environment, and resolve faults by analyzing distributed systems and data when issues arise. You’ll work in a fast-paced globally distributed team while quickly learning new skills and creating ways to consistently meet service-level agreements (SLAs) for our global ROSA, OSD, and ARO cloud services.

What will you do:

  • Develop and maintain software to automatically provision, upgrade, monitor, and heal a large global fleet of OpenShift clusters deployed in public clouds

  • Identify architectural issues; propose and implement more resilient and scalable solutions

  • Support the operations of OpenShift-managed services by responding to and troubleshooting system alerts

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to guide efficient troubleshooting of production issues

  • Provide engineering support to Red Hat's global technical support team to resolve customer issues

  • Participate in the development of new features and capabilities to enhance the security of our OpenShift Managed Services

  • Participate in a follow-the-sun on-call rotation, including periodic weekend and holiday on-call duties

What will you bring:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience using object-oriented languages; Golang is preferred

  • 5+ years of experience managing Linux-based systems in a public cloud such as AWS, GCP, or Azure

  • 5+ years experience with enterprise systems monitoring; knowledge of Prometheus and/or Splunk are preferred

  • 3+ years of experience delivering hosted cloud services

  • 3+ years experience with Kubernetes

  • 3+ years of experience with containers on Linux

  • Excellent communication skills in a global team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and accurately troubleshoot systems issues

  • Solid understanding of standard TCP/IP networking and common protocols like DNS and HTTP
