The Opportunity

Our purpose-built, modern manufacturing facility at Western Approach is an International Centre of Excellence in composite wing structure design and production. With circa. 350 employees, we manufacture composite wing spars and Fixed Trailing Edge assemblies for some of the world's most popular aircraft. A rare opportunity to become our Maintenance Manager has arisen. In this role you will lead a team of 14 people to manage our 24/7 facilities and assets to ensure continuous production. You will help us to continually develop site work processes, ensure regulatory compliance and help us continue to deliver results which are the best of industry practice level. This is a Monday-Friday role.

How You'll Contribute

In this key role, you will:

  • Manage a multi-disciplined team to plan and perform asset maintenance which delivers incremental improvements in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

  • Manage service contracts, having responsibility of a budget of circa. £2million In collaboration with Continuous Improvement Function partners, be accountable for deploying the Global Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Programme.

  • Implement the short and long term Maintenance people strategy including competence programme, talent and skills acquisition, retention and development.

  • Implement the standard ("One GKNA" process) and KPIs for the Maintenance function;

  • implement a layered process audit system to provide governance for the Facilities and Maintenance standards.

  • Support the definition of the strategy for core/non-core Maintenance capability and implementing the resultant Make v Buy execution.

  • Exemplify a safety-first mindset and ensuring compliance to the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards.

  • Ensure PPM is completed on time while supporting with operational requirements

  • Drive asset uptime and reliability through tactical and strategic activities

  • Drive HSE culture and ensure all requirements are met

  • Support quality and manufacturing engineering in delivering right first time components

  • Collect and analyse data to support continuous improvement activities

  • Manage financial budget to maximise value

  • Manage contractors and ensure services are delivered in line with expectations

  • Planning and management of maintenance and overhauls

  • Drive TPM

What You'll Bring

To help us make a difference, you’ll bring your passion and expertise/ talent for what you do along with thefollowing skills, experience, qualifications and attributes:

Essential Experience:

  • Experience leading a maintenance team, preferably within a manufacturing environment

  • Technical expertise in maintenance management

  • Experience of working to implement functional capability in the area of Maintenance

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience of Continuous improvement and LEAN methodologies

  • Experience of working on complex technical projects in global organisations

  • Project / Programme Management Detailed knowledge of Maintenance Systems (CMMS)

Behaviours:

  • Proven change agent

  • Advanced communication and influencing skills, with an ability to influence senior levels of the business as well as establish collaborative working relationships across different departments and geographies

  • Proven structured Problem Solving experience
