Vera Therapeutics Senior Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting in Brisbane, California

Title: Senior Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting Location: Brisbane, California About Us: Vera Therapeutics (Nasdaq: VERA), is a late-stage biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for serious immunological diseases. Position Summary: Vera is seeking a Senior Manager of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to join an experienced, fast-paced, and collaborative team. The Senior Manager of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting will report to the Senior Director of Accounting and will interact with senior management and external parties to manage all external financial reporting processes and activities. Responsibilities: • Drive the preparation of quarterly reports (10-Q), annual reports (10-K), current reports (8-K) and other SEC filings, including review of XBRL for accuracy. • Review and assist in drafting of quarterly earnings releases. • Collaborate with legal counsel in the preparation of the annual Proxy. Review document for overall quality and accuracy. • Work with finance, internal and external legal counsel, and external auditors to ensure financial reporting related deliverables are completed in a timely manner. • Research significant financial transactions and apply advanced knowledge of GAAP and SEC requirements to write technical accounting memos. • Provide recommendations to accounting team and management to ensure significant transactions (i.e. debt, equity, leases) are properly recorded and disclosed. • Monitor significant corporate events to ensure proper and timely disclosure and accounting treatment. • Perform contract reviews, as necessary, documenting accounting impact and appropriate accounting treatment. • Provide technical accounting guidance including monitoring and implementation of new accounting pronouncements. • Identify novel ways to optimize reporting process to improve effectiveness and efficiencies to meet department goals and objectives. • Perform internal controls for select activities and processes. Liaison with SOX Lead to ensure compliance with SOX404(b) requirements for areas of responsibility. • Complete quarterly and annual GAAP disclosure checklists. • Play an important role in preparing the accounting function to support commercial activities. • Work on special projects, initiatives, and analyses, as needed. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent. • Certified Public Accountant. • 7+ years of experience, including public accounting, preferably “Big 4”. • Public company pharma industry experience preferred. • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP requirements, SEC regulations, and internal controls. • Demonstrated recent experience in researching and preparing for implementation of new accounting pronouncements. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to anticipate events, prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment. • Strong attention to detail. • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. • Ability to work independently as well as a collaborative team player. • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). • Experience with Active Disclosure or Workiva and NetSuite preferred. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $137,000 - $167,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geography, qualifications, skills, and experience. At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity.
