The Staff Accountant plays a crucial role within the US Finance team, supporting SOX compliance and corporate operations. The successful incumbent will be responsible for a variety of accounting functions, including performing monthly controls, supporting monthly close activities and special projects.

Hybrid with 3 days onsite and 2 remote

6 month assignment – estimated end date of 2/28/25

Payrate - $65.00 per hour

What’s a typical day as a Staff Accountant? You’ll be:

  • Perform testing procedures on SOX controls and document testing results

  • Perform business process walkthroughs and document business process narratives and/or business process flows

  • Proactively identify emerging business and technical risks, issues, and developments in a timely manner for action and incorporation into the SOX compliance program documentation

  • Coordinate monthly close functions including open/close ledgers, FX, and allocations

  • Record journal entries related to corporate functions such as treasury, payroll, legal, prepaid, accrued liabilities, etc.

  • Conduct balance sheet account reconciliations

  • Support internal and external SOX 404 audit requests and compliance requirements

  • Support departmental, functional and corporate initiatives

  • Assist with the application of GAAP to new transactions

  • Establish rapport and build cooperative, respectful working relationships with relevant internal and external parties

  • As departmental workloads change, additional responsibilities may be required

*This job might be an outstanding fit if you have the following qualification: *

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office

Preferred:

  • CPA, MBA and/or experience in public accounting

  • Experience with HFM, PeopleSoft, or SAP

  • 1-3 years of experience in a similar role with a $500M+ business

Competencies:

  • Creative problem-solving skills

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

  • Understanding of internal controls and segregation of duties

  • Ability to perform well under pressure, with changing priorities and tight deadlines

  • High level of maturity, self-motivation, and team-orientation
