Position Summary:

Join our dynamic Safety Acceleration Team (SAT) as a key member, working closely with Engineering counterparts across multiple manufacturing sites. Together, we will proactively identify and address Safety and Engineering gaps in various critical areas, including but not limited to: 1) regulatory compliance, 2) company policies/standards, 3) site procedures and work practices, 4) equipment and workplace design, and 5) training.

Your role will involve facilitating the swift closure of identified gaps by developing and implementing effective corrective action plans in collaboration with the site teams. We are committed to establishing and enhancing site safety competency and capability, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and maintaining a consistently high level of safety performance.

Please note : This position require significant travel, you can expect to travel between 80-100% of the time, covering various locations across North America for a minimum duration of 18 months. To ensure a comprehensive understanding of our operations, you will spend a minimum of 3 months at each assigned site. This rotation will provide you with valuable insights and allow you to contribute effectively to our organization. Upon completion of the rotation, you will be assigned a permanent location that aligns with your skills and preferences.

Key Responsibilities:

In addition to overall input to site safety and health initiatives, strategies, programs and procedures, responsibilities include hands on counsel, supervision, assessment and implementation:

  • Conduct and/or validate baseline risk assessments to identify gaps and priorities to include, but not limited to: Overall S&H Risk Assessment Safety & Health Regulatory Compliance Assessment, Functional Compliance Assessment, Work at Height Risk Assessment, Big Risk Assessment, Machine Risk Assessment, Machine Task Risk Analysis, etc.

  • Champions and develops a culture where safety is ingrained as a core value with all employees, everyone believes zero harm is achievable, everyone is actively engaged in performing their work in a safe manner, everyone actively interacts with co-workers to prevent at-risk behaviors.

  • Actively participates on the site SH&E Team and other assigned teams. Effectively coaches and develops operations line supervision to be effective SH&E coaches in their respective positions.

  • Analyze SH&E conditions and behaviors and recommends changes to continuously improve Site SH&E performance to world class levels.

  • Implement systems, procedures, and work practices to ensure “audit ready” state of compliance.

  • Develop and implement processes and procedures (SOP's) to ensure Site compliance with company and regulatory agency policies, including federal, state and local legislation and regulations pertaining to SH&E.

  • Reviews, analyzes, critiques and/or approves engineering design development reports, plans and specifications for compliance with safety, health & environmental laws and regulations.

  • Drives implementation of SH&E best in class programs, systems and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear procedures on SH&E measures and precautions.

  • Understand the safety risks associated with jobs at the site.

  • Ensures thorough investigation of all incidents, in coordination with Safety and Health Site leadership. Provide expertise and participate to all SH&E incident investigations as conducted by Site Leadership.

  • Develop and/or administer safety training programs.

  • Drive excellence through active participation on the production floor to adopt a - ZERO TOLERANCE MENTALITY- toward SH&E losses.

Experience & Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in safety subject area or related fields.

Required:

  • 3+ years experience in a manufacturing setting who has been successful in the following, but not limited to: coordinating safety activities, developing safety program/procedures, problem-solving safety gaps, developing and executing corrective action plans, building competency & capability in technical safety knowledge and safety leadership behaviors.

  • Experience with OSHA regulations and local equivalents and their application to Site operations.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a food, dairy, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical etc., manufacturing plant environment.

  • Professional safety certifications in SH&E related field are considered beneficial.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication and digital literacy required.

  • Excellent interpersonal interactions.

  • Ability to build teams throughout all levels and functions of the Site with respect, tact and impactful outcomes.

  • Decision-making; must be capable of making well-informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required along with the ability able to relate with audiences that have a broad range of background and understanding.

  • Training & presentation skills.

  • Must demonstrate good insight and ability to develop mutual solutions to challenges.

  • Able to work and lead in a team setting; live the Nestlé Leadership Principles and bring it to life for others.

  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize.

  • Ability to effectively conduct root cause analysis (GSTD-Go-See-Think-Do, 5 Why, PICNIC).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to quickly learn Site relevant federal and state OSHA requirements.

  • Technical writing skills (policies, procedures, reference manuals, and training materials)

  • Reading and comprehension skills/legal & regulatory interpretation.

  • Initiative to lead continuous improvement efforts.

  • Ability to work flexible hours
