Director, Pharmacy Operations

What you’ll do:

As aDirector, Pharmacy Operations, you will assist the Health System Center Pharmacy Operations team in providing oversight and support for the enterprise in all areas of pharmacy operations. This role directly provides division and facility support to optimize pharmacy service. System level support includes implementing standardized operations and regulatory adherence, along with supporting initiatives for medication safety, drug diversion prevention, pharmacy automation, pharmacy supply chain, pharmacy health information technology, and pharmacy revenue and costs. The Director of Pharmacy Operations works with teams towards hospital implementations and new Director of Pharmacy training. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of Pharmacy Operations.

Responsibilities:

· Works effectively as a team member in a dynamic executive environment in a matrix organization and promotes teamwork within and across the organization by maintaining positive relationships and utilizing effective problem-solving skills. Collaborates extensively with personnel enterprise-wide, including key partners in nursing, clinical leadership, safety and security, human resources, and legal.

· Facilitates transitions in facility pharmacy leadership including training new Directors of Pharmacy/Pharmacy Managers, monitoring transition tasks, and serving as a peer mentor for new and established pharmacy leaders.

· Facilitates pharmacy operations for the enterprise. Identifies common opportunities for standardizing processes to achieve a consistent experience for all served.

· Implementations enterprise policies, procedures, and committee expectations that support hospital pharmacy operations to maintain operational standards and compliance with federal pharmacy laws (DEA, USP, DSCSA, etc.)

· Collaborates with key stakeholders and implements pharmaceutical cost optimization strategies throughout the organization.

· Monitors key quality metrics to evaluate the quality of services provided.

· Monitors process improvement initiatives to achieve value-based outcome metrics.

· Participates in pharmacy advisory council and related projects.

· Perform on-site reviews and analysis of on-going pharmacy operations, assist in improvement plans development and leadership evaluation.

· Reports on medication management components of implementation projects for new facilities, acquisitions, or new processes including communication of routine project updates to key stakeholders, working collaboratively with other disciplines, and navigating implementation challenges.

· Maintains current knowledge of relevant DEA, Board of Pharmacy, FDA, EPA, CMS, ISMP, ASHP, accreditation, and other relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need:

_Education:_

· Bachelor’s Degree Pharmacy, PharmD preferred

· Master’s Business Administration or Master’s in Healthcare Administration preferred

_Experience:_

· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in hospital pharmacy leadership, preferentially director level or above.

· Direct experience with regulatory bodies and successful participation in regulatory surveys.

· Familiarity with DEA, FDA, and EPA regulations as well as CMS Condition of Participation and TJC standards related to medication management.
