West Sound Workforce is assisting a well-respected nonprofit in their search for an Accountant II to join their team in Bremerton. This organization is dedicated to creating hope and opportunity for low-income Kitsap County residents by providing resources that promote self-sufficiency and stability.
Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, the Accountant II plays a key role in managing vendor relationships, overseeing reconciliations, and ensuring financial compliance within a complex nonprofit funding environment. This role demands a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills, the ability to navigate federal grant regulations, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Successful candidates thrive in a collaborative setting and excel at maintaining financial accuracy and efficiency. Shift information:
- Full time, Monday-Friday
- Onsite
What you will do as an Accountant II:
- Maintain strong vendor partnerships, oversee account reconciliations, and ensure timely payments
- Monitor financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational policies
- Ensure compliance by adhering to OMB, CFR 200, and other federal and nonprofit accounting regulations
- Produce monthly financial statements and assist with audits and file monitoring
- Navigate the complexities of managing multiple grants, ensuring proper allocation and compliance
What we are looking for:
- BA degree plus 2 years of accounting experience, or AA degree plus 5 years of experience (nonprofit or grant accounting preferred)
- Strong knowledge of fund accounting, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting
- Experience with OMB, CFR 200, and federal grant regulations
- Ability to reconcile complex accounts, ensure accuracy, and maintain financial integrity
- Skilled at building vendor relationships and working effectively across departments
