The exponential growth of distributed energy resources (DER) is rapidly changing the challenges for all players on the electrical power market. Decentralization and digitalization are enhancing and transforming the energy world faster than ever.

Siemens recently installed a Business Unit called Grid Software to account for the growing challenges our customers facing due to the DER growth. Our employees are working on pioneer topics in very close collaboration with these customers. In the Grid Control segment, we’re mainly working on equipping control centers with a software bundle called Spectrum Power™.

Beyond traditional grid operation, Spectrum Power™ solutions actively help grid operators manage, orchestrate, and optimize their transmission and distribution systems. Over 1,300 Spectrum Power™ systems in operation keep the lights on for hundreds of millions of people around the globe.

We are looking for a passionate candidate (m/f/d) to join our team in Grid Control located in Bratislava, Slovakia. The positions will allow the successful candidate to bring engineering knowhow together with software skills and work in a field with enormous impact on the future.

Main Duties:

  • Working in R&D for Grid Control

  • Responsible for engineering and improving a central subsystem of Spectrum Power 7.

  • Responsible for the development of specific enhancements which can reach from improvements to completely new features.

  • In the future: possible development to a technical expert.

Language skills

  • English language – Intermediate level (B2)

  • As advantage would be German language skill– Intermediate level (B2) or willingness to learn.

Experiences and Education

  • Technical education (TU, FH, HTL) preferably in power engineering or electrical engineering Other backgrounds are also invited to apply, e.g., physics, computer science, mathematics, automation engineering, …

  • Required:

  • C/C++ skills

  • Git/Gitlab skills

  • Linux development knowledge

  • Interest or/and experiences in one or more of the following topics:

  • Java application development

  • Jboss application server development

  • Linux shell scripting

  • Interest in software engineering and programming

  • Analytical and critical thinking

  • Business Process oriented

Salary: From 2 000 € brutto / month+ variable bonus*
