Robert Half Staff Accountant in Brandywine, Maryland
Description Robert Half is looking to find a talented, efficient Staff Accountant to join an esteemed organization in the Healthcare, Hospitals, Social Assistance industry. In this position, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You'll be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. Your duties will also include participating in compliance, reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, and staying connected with our external auditors throughout quarterly reviews and annual audits. A good deal of time in this position will be spent on producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the Brandywine, Maryland area, this company is offering a long-term contract / temporary opportunity that's sure to challenge as well as reward effort.
Your responsibilities in this role
Maintain fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process Requirements - Cash posting experience
Accounts Payable (AP) experience
General ledger experience
Abila MIP experience
Deep understanding of journal entries
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in ERP systems
