About Branchville Correctional Facility:

As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Branchville Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. We strive to model best Correctional practices, return productive citizens to our communities, and inspire a culture of accountability, integrity and professionalism. The Branchville Correctional Facility is a medium security Correctional facility for adult males. Branchville Correctional Facility is located in Branchville, Indiana. At the Branchville Correctional Facility, incarcerated individuals have multiple opportunities for educational and vocational skills training, including woodworking and sewing, with the items they produce often going to community organizations.

Role Overview:

As an Electronics Technician, you will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of low voltage equipment to include: PA systems, radios, fire alarm systems, telephones, cameras, TVs, door control systems, and computer network cabling.

Salary:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 per hour but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential elements of the job duties:

  • Install, operate, and inspect electronic and telecommunication equipment.

  • Troubleshoot a variety of complex electronic equipment and performs necessary electrical repairs.

  • Responsible for researching and recommending new electronic equipment.

  • Resolve electrical and operable problems when combining new equipment with present equipment.

  • Ensure all electronic systems meet regulatory laws and complies to ACA standards and departmental policies.

  • Ensure all safety standards and precautions are followed and in compliance with policies and procedures.

  • Estimate and recommend project needs and budget requests.

  • Document and maintain record of repairs, calibration, and tests.

  • Order equipment and parts and maintain an inventory list.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).

  • Four (4) years of experience in repair and/or maintenance of electronic components and equipment.

  • Thorough knowledge of, and ability to inspect, analyze and install electronic equipment.

  • Extensive knowledge of standard theories, methods, procedures, materials, test equipment and tools of the electronics field.

  • Working knowledge of, and ability to utilize, repair manuals, schematics, and parts catalogs.

  • Working knowledge of hazards peculiar to high voltage electronics equipment and applicable safety procedures.

  • Working knowledge of various power regulations throughout the state.

  • Ability to analyze, diagnose and correct malfunctions of a wide variety of electronic equipment.

  • Ability to establish professional and technical contacts with manufacturers, suppliers, and vendors of electronic equipment.

  • Ability to maintain and update files on equipment and counts.

Additional requirements if position is for AGO:

  • Provide direct support to military unit on live fire training ranges and complexes.

  • Perform duties during day, night, and all-weather conditions.

  • Required to attend and receive certification for overseeing an Indiana Department of Correction work crew.

  • Working knowledge of fire code, IOSHA requirements, facility departmental and state policies and procedures, federal, state and local building codes.
