Corporate Mechanical Engineering Intern

Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Corporate Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Corporate Engineering department location in Brampton, ON. This Intern position will work alongside the design team and is a good opportunity for students who want to improve their skills in GD&T, large scale assembly design and plant layout design, and to gain practical experience leveraging various mechanical design platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Working closely with designers/ engineers on various tasks in preparing engineering documents, design drawing package, and design manuals.

  • Involved in mechanical equipment design, plant layout, P&ID, and piping design by using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Plant 3D.

  • Maintain and publish 3D Naviswork models for new or existing projects regularly.

  • Involved in general administration tasks such as organizing documents and files.

  • Assist in development of engineering department instructions related to set up and use of design software and hardware.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We are looking for candidates who are available to start as soon as possible for an 8 or 12 month duration.

Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate from Architectural Technology or Mechanical Technology – Design & Drafting programs

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated as a quick learner and eager to learn new knowledge.

  • Ability to follow instructions and pay attention to detail when preparing engineering drawings and documents.

  • Experienced in 2D drafting and 3D modeling programs such as AutoCAD, Inventor or Solid Works

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Power Point.

  • Proficiency in GD&T is a plus.

  • Experience in VB programming is a plus.
